At the year 5 level, students strengthen the skills they have gained and build on what they have learnt previously by thinking and investigating in deeper ways. During their time in year 5 students are expected to put into practice what they learn, and apply concepts to solve problems in a variety of context whether it be Islam, science or mathematics. Critical thinking, creative writing, comprehending skills not only in English but Arabic and Sinhala language arts, originality are some of the skills developed in students. Further they are encouraged and expected to be more independent in their learning, with minimum adult assistance. Completion of Memorizing the Amma Juzz at the end of this stage is aimed.

Scavenger Hunt

The year 5 boys had an exciting time hunting for 18 fact cards hidden in the school library within the given 20 minutes. Students had to find out the fact cards and answer a given worksheet. This was an activity done in order to introduce ‘Our Universe’ a unit for science. The activity was concluded with a discussion on the topic.
